Paros is the third in size island in Cyclades, after Andros and Naxos, with a total area of 195 sq. km and 120 kilometers of shore and beautiful sandy beaches. Apart Parikia which is the commercial center of the island, the most beautiful village in Paros is Naoussa, which is much more picturesque and has some of the most elegant Paros luxury hotels, right on the beach. The center point of interest is around the small fishing harbour of Naoussa where are situated some of the best restaurants, fish taverns, cafes and bars of the island. Near Naoussa are some of the best beaches of Paros, awarded with the "blue flag" sign.

In the previous article we talked about Naoussa Paros and things to do there by night (Part 1).

In this article we will talk about things to do in Naoussa Paros during the day.
Get up early in the morning, have a rich breakfast at your hotel and get ready to discover the beauties of places around Naoussa. If you prefer to have your breakfast in Naoussa, go to the Cafe Sante, situated in the heart of the village. It is one of the most popular meeting points in Naoussa, serving all kind of coffees and delicious omelets.
After that, rent a scooter (or hire a taxi or a boat) and drive to some of the best nearby beaches. Start your beach tour from Kolimbithres beach which is situated in the bay, just opposite of Naoussa village. Due to impressive huge sculpture-like rock formations that devide the whole beach into little coves of sandy beaches, Kolimbithres is one of the most popular beaches near Naoussa. Some of these small beaches offer umbrellas and sunbeds for hire and some water sport facilities as well. Another small sandy beach, pretty close to Kolimbithres, is Monastiri (or Agios Ioannis beach). It's very well organized, with crystal clear waters, sea sport facilities and seafront fish tavernas to enjoy your lunch with delicious tastes.
For snorkeling and windsurfing lovers, it's suggested to go to Santa Maria beach, situated east of Naoussa at a distance of 5 km, facing Naxos island. This is a fully organized beach with sunbeds, umbrellas, seasport
centers and beach bars with nice music.

In the afternoon you may visit some churches, such as Kimisis tis Theotokou (the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin) which is the main church of Naoussa, located on the highest spot of the hill, the church of San Nicolas and the Monastery of Logovarda which is located 4 km from Naoussa on the way to Parikia. Logovarda is a male monastery and it is forbidden for women.

If you are going to stay in Paros for more days, then it's worthy to visit some of the most interesting sites in Parikia, such as the church of Panagia Ekatontapiliani (meaning Our Lady of the Hundreds Gates) which was constructed in the 4th century A.D. by Saint Constantine, the first Emperor of Constantinople (Istanbul) and is one of the best preserved Christian monuments in Greece, where you may visit the Byzantine Museum and admire a collection of rare icons, various religious relics and other christian items dating from the post-Byzantine period. In Parikia is also located the Archaeological Museum of Paros where you may see a
huge collection of findings dating from the Bronze and Neolithic period.

And last, don't miss to visit Antiparos island, a small picturesque islet, just 1 nautical mile southwest of Paros, where you will feel like in paradise. Antiparos is accessible by ferry boat from Paros port (Parikia) which is a 20 minutes trip and from Punda beach which is just 7 minutes trip.

Where to stay in Paros and things to do - Part 1

Paros in one of the Cyclades Islands in Greece and is a popular destination for summer holidays not for the Athenians only (who are prefering Paros for their vacation), but for thousands of tourists as well coming from every part of the world.
Paros is a typical Cycladic style island, with traditional buildings, narrow streets and great history. The two most popular villages are Parikia (the capital and main port of the island) and Naoussa, the "quaint cycladic fishing village" as is known better.

In this article, we will talk about Naoussa and things to do there. First of all lets see where to stay...
In Naoussa there are enough very well organized hotel units offering great accommodation in Paros hotels, apartments, studios or even luxury suites. The high-class hotels are built on
the beachfront providing amazing sea views. If you like to stay for your holidays in a charmingh hotel with swimming pool and sea view, then the Hotel Stelia Mare in Paros (Naoussa) is the ideal choice. It features deluxe rooms, and suites (for 2 to 6 pax) and an outdoor swimming pool with pool bar and a pool deck with loungers and umbrellas. It is located in a quite location, 5 minutes walk from Naoussa centre and 30 meters form Agii Anargyri beach.

Once you have arrived in your hotel in Naoussa and after a refreshing shower, get ready to explore the village and its beauties. The first thing you have to do is to visit the centre of the village, which is the port. Don't wait to see a port as usual... It's a tiny fishing harbor, very picturesque, with traditional Greek fishing boats (kaiki) and surrounded by fish restaurants, tavernas, bars and cafe. Try to get there by 8:30 pm when it's not so crowded, because later at night, you should have to wait on line to walk the narrow promenade around the harbor. You will be surprised by the huge number of octapus which are drying in front of the restaurants and "ouzeri" of Naoussa. Saying "ouzeri", it's a traditional Greek taverna, serving fish "mezedes" and the famous Greek aperitif named ouzo. For the adults, I suggest you to taste this aperitif. It goes perfect with octapus on charcoal (dressed with vinegar), with sardines (sardeles), with squids, with Greek feta cheese and olives (elies), tzantziki, or better a Greek salad (horiatiki) with tomato, cucumber, onion, aregano, feta cheese and caper, as well as whatever other local delicasies these "ouzeries" have to offer. You will be surprised from the tastes and for sure you will feel attained in the clouds after the second-third small glass of ouzo!
Suggested ouzeries in Naoussa: the "Barbarossa" and the "Psarotaverna - Ouzeri ton Naftikon".

After that, you will need a place to go for entertainment, and Naoussa has to offer a lot. There are several bars like "Sofrano" and "Kavarnis" (with 60's, 70's and 80's music), "Agosta" and "Cafe Del Mar" (with 90's) and why not to try "Ranta" or "Nestos-Club" (with Greek music).

It's already after midnight, but the nightlife in Naoussa of Paros never stops... If you are a "night owl" you will not get disappointed. There are several night clubs and bars staying open till the early morning.

Whenever you decide, go back to your Paros hotel and get a deep sleep, as next day there are a lot of places to visit.

To be continued (with part 2) on things to do during the morning, noon and afternoon in Naoussa, Paros.
